Define the solar asset before comparing the price
For a professional solar transaction, identify whether the buyer acquires an operating SPV, an RTB development package or an earlier project. Define MW AC, MWp DC and permitted export separately, then connect production, sales, receipts and remaining spending to that perimeter.
The Ukrainian market opportunity
The EBRD announced a US$45 million loan for a 106 MW solar plant with storage in Ukraine for a Kernel group company. This is financing for a specific project, not a standard set of terms available across the market. EBRD announcement on solar and storage.
Tillerstone’s view: a persuasive proposition starts with identifiable demand. A business’s daytime load can support on-site consumption; grid sales need their own hourly revenue model. Add storage when its intended function justifies the extra cost.
What turns potential into value
- Generation profile. Match forecast output with hourly consumption or sales.
- Grid connection. Confirm permitted capacity, required works and timing.
- Rights and structures. Check land rights for ground-mounted plants, and access rights and structural capacity for rooftops.
- Total budget. Include grid works, operation, equipment replacement and insurance.
Distinguish panel capacity in MW DC from export capacity in MW AC. Annual output does not describe hourly revenue; curtailment and imbalance exposure belong in the calculations.
Show the investor the next achievable milestone
For a prepared site, the next milestone may be completing the grid connection or funding construction; for an operating plant, it may be a sale or bringing in a partner.
